The driving of the Golden Spike that completed the first transcontinental railroad between the eastern and the western united states happened on May 10th 1869. The spike was driven in Promontory Summit, Utah and helped forge the destiny of the nation. Today the Union Pacific Railroad among other carries on this proud heritage and looks to restore Bigboy 4014 in time for the 150th anniversary of the golden spike.
